M.C. Dean is answering growing global demand for high-density data center power modules by transforming the way they manufacture – leaning heavily on their operational excellence team in 2025 to support internal growth strategies and expand production capacity at their Modular Mission Critical™ manufacturing campus.
“2025 saw an incredible growth in high-density power module demand for global data center customers,” said Terry Casey, M.C. Dean senior vice president of manufacturing. “In order to keep pace, our company needed to embrace lean manufacturing strategies and implement facility-wide changes.”
In addition to analyzing production lines, eliminating waste, and standardizing work, the operational excellence team integrated a focus on customer value into the campus culture. They worked to streamline hiring and onboarding processes to expand the workforce by 38 percent. These changes resulted in a 43 percent cycle time reduction on their largest data center module production line – greatly improving delivery time for internal and external customers.
Other modifications contributing to this production capacity milestone included improved material organization, better ergonomic practices, and a wider use of new tools and technologies to boost productivity.
“The cultural change at M.C. Dean has been incredible – with leadership, manufacturing teams, and office employees all actively engaged and contributing new ideas,” said Kevin Douglas, M.C. Dean vice president of operational excellence. “It’s about building a culture where continuous improvement is part of how we think, not just how we operate.”
Manufacturing teams continue to seek improvement, meeting regularly throughout the year to efficiently address goals and sustain momentum.
