M.C. Dean’s Power Source Emulator enables full-voltage testing of mission critical switchgear, without high-amperage live power, streamlining commissioning to accelerate data center delivery, reduce risk, and improve performance certainty. For data center owners and operators, that means accelerated schedules and greater confidence before equipment reaches their site.
Issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the Power Source Emulator is a portable system that simulates real-world utility and generator power. It delivers full-voltage, three-phase power at less than one percent of normal operating current, allowing programmable switchgear and automatic transfer switches (ATS) to be tested under realistic conditions — without the hazards and logistical constraints of traditional live-load testing.
“Our patented Power Source Emulator represents a major advancement in how we test and commission mission-critical electrical systems,” said Mike Keatley, M.C. Dean senior vice president of Engineering & Construction. “Innovations like this help customers keep pace with unprecedented demand for digital infrastructure by strengthening delivery schedules.”
At M.C. Dean’s Modular Mission Critical™ (MMC) manufacturing campus, this technology enables Level 3 commissioning of power modules before shipment, validating performance in a controlled environment and resolving issues earlier in the project lifecycle. Every commissioning engineer at MMC is trained to utilize this equipment for power systems testing of large, complex modules.
For customers building or expanding mission critical environments, M.C. Dean’s patented commissioning technology delivers what matters most. Smarter systems delivered faster and safer, exactly as designed, before being energized onsite.
Modular Mission Critical™ is a product line designed and manufactured by M.C. Dean to enable customers to rapidly deploy power, communications, security, life safety, mechanical, and automation systems, regardless of size and complexity. The Modular Mission Critical™ manufacturing campus is located in Central Virginia and serves customers worldwide.
